Create a reusable template
Work with layers, text, variables and animation timing.
Choose the right inspector
The Object inspector edits the selected layer. The Template inspector manages the template, its groups and variables. The eye and lock controls in the layer list control visibility and editing.
Edit text without losing its format
Double-click text on the canvas to edit it in place. Enter commits the edit, Shift+Enter adds a line, and Escape discards the draft. Use the font-family selector and the separate Bold, Italic, Underline and Strikethrough buttons. Refresh checks for newly installed font families.
Make changing content a variable
Write {{name}} or {{role}} in a text object. The variable becomes a field in Live. Set the appearance in the template and the cue's value in Preview.
Position and align objects
- Use Ctrl to add or remove objects from the selection. In the layer list, Shift selects a range.
- Use arrow keys to move selected objects; hold Shift for larger steps.
- Enable Snap for alignment guides. Use the circular handles to resize and the rotation handle to turn the selection.
- Hold Shift while rotating to use 15° steps. Images and video preserve their proportions unless you resize with Shift.
- Use Shift+mouse wheel to zoom the canvas and the middle mouse button to pan. Ctrl+0 resets the active editing area's zoom.
Rehearse the timing
In the animation timeline, adjust delays and durations, move the playhead or press Space to play and pause. Ctrl+Space stops and returns to the start. Leave the timeline or press Escape to return to the normal editing view.
