Control video and shared timers
Prepare video playback and link clocks across templates.
Prepare a video
Use Video in Edit to import a clip and follow the progress indicator. Use the inspector player to check it before adding it to the rundown. Start paused on Take is available when a clip should wait for an explicit play command.
On-air video follows a shared playback timeline. Its editor transport is locked while following the on-air clip, so editing does not seek the live playback.
Check transparency and playback
Container extensions alone do not guarantee support for every codec or alpha format. Test each imported file, its transparency and its audio on the actual system. Avoid first-time media imports during transmission.
Share a countdown or stopwatch
Create or choose a named Timer source in the Object inspector. Link another timer object to the same source to display the same time elsewhere. Give each object its own display format, such as mm:ss or HH:mm:ss.SSS.
Shared means shared control. Playing, pausing or resetting a global timer affects every object linked to that source, including those on Program. Reset returns the timer to a paused state.
Use template groups deliberately
A template group's playback controls operate on its media and timers. If a timer source is also linked outside that group, those linked displays follow the same source. Use separate sources when timers must remain independent.
